...for a marshmallow in your hat! That's right, not a typo. Bill had the great (but potentially dangerous) idea to roast marshmallows for s'mores in our fireplace. We told Kaity she could have hot chocolate and make s'mores since we had to leave the Festival of Lights before doing that because the kids, Ryan specifically, were beat. But first, she had to pick up her room which really just consisted of putting all of her books back on her shelf. After about ten minutes, I went to go check on her and she was fast asleep on the floor in her dress (again, why did we buy her a bed?). So, we put the hot chocolate in the freezer and the ingredients back in the pantry for another day.
The next night the three of us (we waited until Ry was in bed because having an open fire with a stumbly toddler is never a good idea) had a great time roasting marshmallows in the fireplace and making s'mores.
Now Kaity discovered a Santa hat and a jingle bell in our Christmas decorations Sunday afternoon and has hardly taken them off. You see where this is going. She wanted to wear them to school on Monday, so we let her wear the hat, but she had to leave the bell in the car. Remembering my teaching days, I thought we should spare her sweet teacher. Kaity was happy with the compromise.
Well, at pick up I was told that she kept playing with the marshmallow in her hat all day. My response was, "great, you guys had marshmallows for snack today - that's one of your favorites!" and, to Ms. Shannon "Sorry about the hat, but at least you didn't have the bell." See, I thought Ms. Shannon said the marshmallow and the hat. Turns out that our sweet sugar was saving a little something sweet in her hat for later (like, the next day!) and had been playing with it during preschool. Silly girl. Needless to say, I replaced the stale and germ laden marshmallow with a new one.
